An interactive poetry writing masterclass looking at inspiration and intertextuality, lead by acclaimed poet Karen McCarthy Woolf.
The London Library Lit Fest has teamed up with Arvon, the UK’s leading creative writing charity, to bring you interactive masterclasses with highly experienced tutors each morning of the festival.
Opening the festival, acclaimed poet Karen McCarthy Woolf invites you to dive into other literatures and consider them in the creation of your own poetry. Using London Library resources as inspiration, she will talk about intertextual form and the ways we can enrich our own work through conversations with other published materials.
The masterclass will take place over Zoom and a limited number of places are available. You will be sent a link 24 hours before the workshop.
Karen McCarthy Woolf’s celebrated début An Aviary of Small Birds was a Guardian Book of the Year and a Poetry Book Society Recommendation. Her latest collection Seasonal Disturbances is a PBS Recommendation and was shortlisted for the inaugural Laurel Prize. An editor of five literary anthologies, she has launched many new voices and her poems have been selected for Poems on the Underground, made into poetry film and dance collaborations and dropped from a helicopter over the Houses of Parliament.
Arvon is the UK's leading creative writing charity. For over fifty years, they have supported writers of all stages to discover and express their creativity and individual voice through residential activity at their three heritage properties based in Devon, Shropshire and West Yorkshire, and more recently online.
